Let’s be honest. A very few of you (us?) are like, “Ooo, yay! a Checklist!”
Why is that? Most of us believe we know what we’re doing. We believe we’re doing a good job. The checklist is CHANGE. It is a potentially different way to do something and it’s not my way!
I want to approach checklists from a different angle.
Are you achieving the desired results? Great. The checklist is for your new hires to speed up the training process.
Are you only achieving the desired results under perfect conditions? Great. Use the checklist to problem solve and find your gap.
New to the role? Great! The checklist gives you a step-by-step to make your role easier.
Lastly, does it suck to be busy? It’s hectic. It’s stressful. I’m sorry that’s happening to you. This checklist is designed to make work suck less.

You see, I don’t believe in mandating a checklist. I don’t believe in requiring the experienced, high performer to use the checklist every day.

When it’s busy, is it fun or does it suck?
If it’s fun AND they’re delivering the desired results, why are you reading this! They’re fine just not doing it the way you want.
If it sucks and they’re delivering results, checklists can make life easier and less stressful.
If it’s fun and they’re not delivering results, checklists will help identify the gap.
