Thanks for clicking on this. It will be a bit of resume, a bit of personality test results, and a bit of bragging. Because why not?

General thoughts to help clear up some ideas:

Training vs. Coaching

Accountability vs. Responsibility

What do we call a Manager of Managers?

Interviews are dumb

ORIGINAL BETTER THAN YESTERDAY CONSULTING

The idea for Better Than Yesterday Consulting started after attending the Master Performance Consulting course from ATD. The idea of helping as many people as I could intrigued me. Coming from my Domino’s Pizza background, I knew there was an opportunity to train Multi-unit Managers. I used that as my foundational why. There is one problem with that. I perceived that to be an issue. The multi-unit manager, running from location to location, delivering or making food, did not. The franchisee, now with at least one person between them and the front-line fires, didn’t see it as an issue either. No pain means no problems. I had a few clients that became regular clients. I taught a few market-wide classes but the number of people I could help was a trickle.

Then I started writing this, odd manifesto of poorly worded thoughts that make sense to me and probably few others. I wanted to use this to help more people. Free access to my thoughts. Use them as you want and if business comes from it, so be it.

THE EPIPHANY

Then one morning, literally out of a dream. I realize I’m still not solving a pain point.

How many of you are happy with the service or product you receive from your local quick service restaurant? You know, the one with the drive thru, bright colors, and poorly working speaker outside? I wasn’t. I’ve been complaining to my poor wife since the pandemic started. 30+ states. Hundreds of meals. Getting both good service and good product was like trying to find Valhalla.

I’m a business consultant complaining about things I could help solve.

That’s the new BTY. A turn-around consultancy.

THE NEW BTY

If you’re a GM, Multi-unit Manager, Director, VP, or Franchisee that can’t figure something out, just click the “Skip all this” link and schedule 15 minutes with me. Sure, it will cost you $15. That’s just insurance for you to show up.

I might not know how to make your single hot dog with pulled pork and onions (I was just combining words there) but I know how people work. I can assist you in your training program, finding ways to communicate more effectively, and even improve your service. Think of me as your “Bar Rescue” or “Restautant Impossible” for the drive-thru and delivery industry.

Why am I so sure of this?

You are hiring the same people as your competitors. You can teach someone how to make your widgets in 2-3 shifts. You can train someone to take an order in 2-3 shifts. I can take what you do and compare it to others that do it faster, cheaper, more consistently, and help you integrate that into your organization.
